I was just a little girl when Smitty came into my life. For the next 22 years, he was my best friend, my confidant and my anchor in the storms of my life. He moved with me many times, over many miles. His big shoulders handled my joy, my sadness and everything in between. He listened to me and always accepted me with love. In return, I loved him with all my heart. I was truly blessed to have had him in my life. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and the gifts he gave me. I was so lucky he shared his life with me and for all the lessons he taught me. Thank you Smitty, for it all....

With you I learned what freedom was. I found flight and abandonment...my hair flying and your tail straight as we galloped down beaches.

You taught me loyalty, responsibility, dedication and love.

You will always be alive to me.....
